Babies cry for many reasons. If your baby cries or resists being put into the wrap or carrier, it doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that the carrier itself is the problem. They may be uncomfortable, in pain, or simply having a bad moment.

The most common reason babies lean backward in a wrap is curiosity and the desire to explore their surroundings. Purple legs may appear, especially in summer, with smaller babies who are less active in the wrap than older ones. Although it might look concerning, it\u2019s usually not serious. The color change is caused by slower blood flow in the surface veins due to gentle pressure from the wrap on the baby\u2019s delicate skin.
Parents often worry that this happens because of restricted blood flow \u2014 however, that\u2019s a myth, as arteries carrying oxygenated blood lie deep within the legs, not near the surface.
What to do if it happens: take the baby out of the wrap or carrier, stretch a little, and gently move the legs \u2014 this can also be done preventively during longer wearing. You can also reduce pressure on the legs by spreading the fabric more evenly under the knees, adjusting the seat, or tightening the fabric around the bottom. In a \u201cFront Cross Carry,\u201d support the thighs with the side passes to prevent the fabric from digging in.

Small red spots on the skin are called petechiae. They can sometimes appear if the seat is too deep or too wide. Try loosening the bottom rail slightly and make sure the fabric around the legs isn\u2019t bunched up but spread out smoothly.
You can also try to seat your baby a little less deeply and tighten the center of the wrap (around the bottom) so that the weight doesn\u2019t rest on the legs.
