How Our Baby Wrap Is Made
Each Sestrice wrap is a unique combination of yarns, design, color palette, and weaving technique. A quality baby wrap should be strong, yet slightly stretchy along the diagonal. This gives it the ability not only to support your baby safely but also to perfectly adapt to both the baby’s body and the body of the carrying parent.
The making of a wrap begins with selecting the right yarns. Besides meeting strict safety standards for children under three years old, the yarns must have the proper thickness, strength, and quality to give the wrap its final character. All yarns used in our wraps come from trusted European suppliers — whether it’s combed, long-fiber cotton or various blends such as merino wool, linen, silk, Tencel, and others.
If we need a shade that is not available in our supplier’s color chart, we turn to a certified dyehouse. They prepare color samples for us, and once we approve them, they dye the required amount of yarn. The dyeing process also follows strict regulations to ensure that the dyed yarns do not release heavy metals or other harmful substances.
In addition to using proven weaves and blends, we love to experiment — combining yarns, testing new structures, and creating unique textures. Thanks to our experience, we can produce the ideal wrap for newborns and a fabric suitable for making baby carriers — breathable, supportive, yet thin and pleasant to the touch.
Our wraps are woven on a jacquard loom, which allows us to incorporate our own original designs directly into the fabric. Each of the thousands of warp threads is individually controlled and interlaced with the weft yarn at high speed.
The woven fabric then arrives at our workshop, where we cut it into different sizes, add center markers and labels. At the same time, we carefully inspect the material and correct any weaving imperfections. From this prepared fabric, our skilled seamstresses sew the finished wraps. Each one is then inspected again, folded, and stored until it’s ready to be sent off to its new home. 🙂
Finally comes the most enjoyable part — the photoshoot — so we can present the new wrap to you in all its beauty 🙂
